Leeds-based industrial graphite specialist USG-Gledco Limited is a manufacturer of mechanical and electrical carbons. USG’s Quality Manager Paul Gill was conscious that USG’s IT needs were highly specialised, and was keen to find IT support which would be able to fulfil them. Wanting a faster and more reliable internal network, one of Hicel’s first jobs for USG more than ten years ago was to upgrade the firm’s server, along with providing the necessary installation and maintenance support alongside. The staff at USG were impressed with Hicel’s speed and professionalism, and were thrilled at the benefits their upgraded IT system brought the business.
Paul elaborates: “Hicel excelled at moving our data from the old server to a new one – this was done with minimal disruption to our everyday business.
“On one occasion our server crashed – Hicel had us up and running again in no time, using our backups to restore the repaired server without losing any data.”
Never a business to sit back and watch technology advance around it, Rudi and the team also encourage USG to use new developments to its advantage. Most recently they have helped move the business to a more cloud-based storage system, eliminating worries about server capacity and hardware failure while keeping data security at the top of the priority list.
As well as assisting USG on larger projects such as the server migration, Hicel also provides IT support for the business on an ad hoc basis, as and when it is needed.
